What traits and behaviors can be found in a high trust Educator/Leader?

Ethics are Important.

About character and competence; when it comes to character, educators must be willing to reveal themselves and their mission, for why they find themselves in the curriculum and instruction spaces. This means, not only showing up when its convenient but also providing opportunities for students to be influenced- through courses, academic journals, webinars, workbooks, consultations, etc. Their influence travels deep and wide- for this reason, instructors, many times take on the responsibility and outcomes of their students; the same way a parent would hold themselves accountable for their children’s success. Lets find out how educators can take on as much responsibilities, while imbibing ethical standards (Ramierez, 2025).

UNT| Heath & Science Center, has gathered a look into the traits of high-trust leadership/educators.

Behaviors	What to say	Opposite	Counterfeit
Talk Straight	Be honest, tell the the truth, let people know where you stand	Lie, deceive, mislead,	‘’Spinning’’, positioning, posturing and riding the fence’’
Demonstrate Respect	Care for others and show it, treat everyone with respect, especially those who can’t do anything for you, do not exploit the vulnerabilities of others-once it is made known to you	Verbally offensive, Not caring for the vulnerable	Faking respect, showing respect for some, but not all.
Create Transparency	Tell the truth, be real, genuine, open, authentic	Hide, cover up, obscure things	Having hidden agendas, withholding information
Right Wrongs	Admit when you are wrong, apologize quickly, display humility, don’t let pride get in the way of doing what’s right.	Deny, justify or rationalize wrongful behavior	Cover-up, disguise, hide mistakes until forced to admit error.
Show loyalty	Give credit to others, speak about people as if they are present, and represent others who are not present.	Take credit, betray others, biased toward people groups	Being gossipy- two faced, appearing to give credit when they’re present but downplaying their contribution and taking credit when others are not around.
