After the decree was made, and after Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were promoted, the king thought it good to praise the Lord further, by saying….
‘’Nebuchadnezzar the king, unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you. I thought it good to shew the signs and wonders that the high God hath wrought toward me.
How great are his signs! and how mighty are his wonders! his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to generation.’’ Daniel 4:1-3
The king continues to be under the anointing and atmosphere of thanksgiving and praise. He seems to have been baffled by God’s signs and wonders displayed by his anointed. Then he begins to share his testimony of his dream that troubled him to the extent that he needed to call for the occultic personalities, who were considered to be the king’s wise men, to help unravel the dream.
‘’Therefore made I a decree to bring in all the wise men of Babylon before me, that they might make known unto me the interpretation of the dream.’’ Daniel 3:6
The disappointed king testifies how the wise men were brought in, but failed to interpret his dream.
‘’Then came in the magicians, the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers: and I told the dream before them; but they did not make known unto me the interpretation thereof.’’ Daniel 3:7
At this point, the magicians and their powers were not able to reveal the mystery and secrets that God had given the king; for this divine assignment had belonged to Daniel; for it is written….
‘’But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.’’ 1 Corinthians 2:9
Hear what the king says about Daniel and his abilities to interpret, calling him ‘’master of the magicians’’.
‘’But at the last Daniel came in before me, whose name was Belteshazzar, according to the name of my god, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods: and before him I told the dream, saying, O Belteshazzar, master of the magicians, because I know that the spirit of the holy gods is in thee, and no secret troubleth thee, tell me the visions of my dream that I have seen, and the interpretation thereof.’’ Daniel 4: 8, 9.
Daniel interprets the dream, and gives the verdict, and the king responds by praise.
We will examine it soon.
